A trek through nature and a beautiful view? Sign me up!
I discovered my love for hiking in April of 2018. I didn’t discover it by actually doing it…instead, I set my sights on a goal that sounded worthy of working towards and it led me into this passion that I now have. The goal? Hike the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in the Summer of 2020.
For those of you unfamiliar with the PCT, it is a 2,653 mile foot trail spanning from the Mexican/US border to the Canadian/US border crossing through California, Oregon, and Washington. Why on earth would I want to spend 4-6 months completing this trek without any prior long distance back-packing experience? Mostly, I loved the idea of the physical challenge and the focus on enjoying the little things such as a hot meal, a nap by the lake, or finding a crushed and melted snickers bar that you forgot you had.
You may have guessed, I was unable to complete the PCT in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But that goal propelled me to train and to realize the passion I have for hiking.
Since then, I have hiked in a dozen national parks, trekked up a volcano in Guatemala, hiked the Inca Trail in Peru, and am planning a hike of the Tour Du Mont Blanc in 2022.
So this is my page dedicated to my passion of hiking – I hope it is useful to you or at least brings you joy.
